Toronto, ON

Festive greetings from my beautiful loft in downtown Toronto, where I’ve been busily working away on a number of creative endeavours. I’m very excited to announce that Trilogies, Part 2 is officially on its way and should be into the mastering phase by the end of the holidays. Looking forward to the next stage of work where the amazing Michael Wrycraft and I decide on cover art, drink lattes and laugh a lot… There’s a bit of a bird pun theme happening with my song titles this round, thus the Trilogy itself is a nod to our magical feathered friends, the element of air and and the winged beast within us all.

Also, this Friday I’ll be releasing the first of two videos from my recent shoot with Southern Souls, makers of the finest live music videos in town these days. We’ll take you into the depths of my Sweetlandish boudoir for the length of one new song and one oldie but goodie. Tune in to my YouTube channel at midnight on December 20th to find out which one!

Other than that, since my last update I’ve been back and forth pretty much consistently between the Sweetland family ranch and my little loft in the big city. Selkie puppy is getting so big! We’ve been working hard with her on her obedience classes and have already started her intro to agility training. We may have a Superdog yet, we shall see. Although her favourite thing still is –and will likely always be– gallivanting through the woods while eating many sticks (and occasionally my finger.)

Additionally, I’ve been keeping up with all my ongoing historical, photographic and naturalist studies – inspiration for new projects on the horizon. I’ve been really enjoying Rachel Maddow’s brilliant new book Blowout: Corrupted Democracy, Rogue State Russia, and the Richest, Most Destructive Industry on Earth. This timely offering from my favourite news host of all time has helped me get my brain around the vastness of the oil industry’s geopolitical influence, both today and in historical context. Highly recommended! I’ve also been getting into Edward Rutherford’s epic Sarum which tells the story of England from the last ice age up until the 1980’s when it was written. This cursory lesson in British history has been supplemental to all I’ve been learning while madly binging Time Team documentaries on YouTube. Love me some archeologists with crazy hair and stripy jumpers! This would be my current guilty pleasure, I confess.

Lots of love and stay warm out there till next we meet. Watch this space for some exciting gig announcements in the New Year and perhaps even another Ladies In Waiting loft soirée some day soon!

xoxo
